Musician and tuition services
1. Fees
Fees are £7.50 per student, per lesson based on two students sharing half an hour. Fees are payable in advance. For the first term of lessons students will be given a bill in their first few lessons. Cheques are payable to 'Billy Baker Music'. Lesson fees are subject to annual review.
2. Missed lessons
Any lesson missed by the student shall be paid for unless otherwise agreed one week in advance with the teacher. If the teacher is unavailable to give any scheduled lesson, the lesson will be carried forward to another date. If this is not possible, any fee already paid will be refunded or used to pay for a future lesson.
3. Additional lessons
Extra lessons may be scheduled during school time if the school calendar allows. Extra holiday period lessons can be given by prior agreement.
4. Termination of Agreement
A decision to discontinue lessons may be taken by the student/parent/guardian or the teacher in which case six weeks’ written notice shall be given by the party
seeking to discontinue. In the event that the student discontinues lessons with insufficient notice, the student/parent/guardian will be liable to pay fees for those lessons
not taken during the notice period.
5. General
a) The student/parent/guardian undertakes not to make photocopies of any music.
b) The student will not enter any examination, festival, competition or otherwise perform in public without first consulting the teacher. The teacher will not enter the
student for any examination/festival etc without the approval of the student/parent/guardian. Any entry fees for such examinations and festivals will be paid by the
student/parent/guardian.
c)It is important to note that whilst a teacher will use his or her best endeavours to ensure the student makes satisfactory progress, this cannot be guaranteed. In
particular, careful regular practice as advised by the teacher is a prerequisite of success on a musical instrument.
The tuition scheme involves using a portable electronic drum kit (see picture on left) to teach students on at schools. These drum kits use headphones and therefore reduces the amount of noise to an absolute minimum.
The tuition syllabus is provided by Drumsense which is a world wide teaching programme which utilises books and play-along material by contemporary musicians. This tuition also gives students the option to take Trinity, Guildhall and Rockschool Grade exams.
Learning a musical instrument helps concentration, aids relaxation and helps express emotions. Learning the drums in particular encourages physical co-ordination and I have experience teaching children with learning difficulties.
Lesson costs are based on two students sharing a half hour lesson and are only £7.50 per student per lesson. It is aimed that at least ten lessons are given per term.
The usual terms and conditions for instrument lessons apply. See below left for these.

Students will need some drumsticks to use during lesssons and for practicing at home. Sticks are available to buy from most music shops and should be size 5A or similar.
Every week students will be given music and a homework sheet so they know what they have to practice. When starting out practice can be done on a rubber practice pad or an everyday item at home. Later on, having a drumkit is encouraged but not essential. Practice can be done by forming a makeshift drumkit as seen below.
