Dangerous State Of Mind by 51/50s
"Despite the previous mass success of heavy rock music being rapidly driven underground a few years ago, there's a top notch and very popular band on the scene with a professionally recorded album about to be released who could be set to change things.
London band, 51/50s, are a band that know how to rock and they know how to do it well. In a time where the world is dominated by major record companies consistently spewing out clones of commercially successful R&B tracks, 'Dangerous State Of Mind' is an album that comes at a time when all dedicated heavy rock fans need is something with an extra kick to stirs thing up. Probably the best album title any rock band has come up with since 'Appetite For Destruction', 'Dangerous State Of Mind' says it all.
Every track on this album is a strong one and the true rockers out there will be loving every minute of it. Infectious rhythmic guitar riffs and catchy melodies combined with the sheer amount of energy of the songs will have you hooked. 'Hypnotised', 'Lies' and 'In It For The Money' all seem to have that true authentic rocking sound that disappeared all those years ago. It's no surprise that debut single 'Bring It On' reached number 26 in HMV's download chart and was tracklisted on radio stations all over the UK and the second single, the incredibly contagious 'Lies' received excellent reviews and radio airplay in Poland and The Netherlands.
If I was to describe 51/50s (and I don't like comparisons) I would have to say that they sound like a cross between Backyard Babies and Alice Cooper at a faster pace and with more raw energy but themed much more typically on good old rock 'n' roll. Released on Monday 29th June 2009, 'Dangerous State Of Mind' is probably the best heavy rock album to come out of the UK in over fifteen years."
